My primary responsibility on RDR2 was the development and delivery of the gesture animation system. This system allows animators to create a timeline of animations to be triggered when a piece of spoken dialogue was delivered. The system would allow developers to define rules that considered the context of the actor delivering the line, such as whether they were on horseback, holding a weapon in their hands, wearing a hat etc. and choose an appropriate animation.
I was responsible for developing the editor, the production asset pipeline and the in-game runtime. I worked with various department leads to ensure that their needs were met and that the implementation of the system was optimal.
I also worked on the gameplay system that allowed the player to pat, feed and groom the horses and otherwise interact with the animals.
